What happens when I get my right to remain?

Use the below information to be fully prepared for when you receive your positive decision.

Congratulations, you’ve received your right to remain. Please attend the next drop in session at Maun Refuge so we can guide you through the next steps. Do this early so we can work quickly to get everything in place.

There’s a checklist we need to go through to ensure you’re all set for when your Section 95 support ends.

  • Housing – We only have 28 days so we need to act fast in searching for suitable accommodation. We highly recommend looking for privately rented accommodation. Our caseworkers can help you fill in the application forms. In some cases supported living accommodation might be a better option. Please attend our drop in sessions so that we can advise you.
  • Applying for Universal Credit – Our caseworkers can help you apply for Universal Credit. It’s important we act quick so to ensure you can get your first payment in good time.
  • Opening a bank account – You will need a bank account for your Universal Credit payments and for your salary to paid into when you get a job. Our caseworkers can help you fill in the application form.
  • Check you can log into your evisa – You should have received a letter on how to access your evisa to prove your immigration status and generate share codes. If you need guidance on how to log into your evisa, please ask us. If there are any problems when it was set up, we need to act to get this sorted as it may delay some of the other actions on this check list.
