Short, ready-to-use assembly/tutorial resource for KS4 and KS5

With Refugee Week beginning on 15 June, we have developed a short, ready-to-use assembly/tutorial resource for KS4 and KS5, which we would be pleased to share with your school. The resource includes a PowerPoint and accompanying script, designed for easy delivery within tutor time or assembly. We have been mindful to ensure that the session supports key priorities for schools, including: Ofsted Personal Development – developing pupils’ understanding of the wider world, promoting thoughtful discussion and encouraging them to become respectful, informed citizens British Values – particularly mutual respect and tolerance of those with different backgrounds, and helping pupils engage with differing viewpoints in a balanced way Prevent Duty – supporting students to think critically about media sources, recognise bias and challenge misinformation KCSIE (Safeguarding) – contributing to a safe, inclusive environment where respectful language and understanding reduce the risk of prejudice-based harm A key strength of the resource is its local context, helping students understand that this is not just a global issue, but one that connects directly to the Mansfield community. We have found that this significantly enhances engagement and supports empathy and social awareness. We appreciate the demands on your curriculum time, so the materials are designed to be concise, flexible and easy for staff to deliver, without requiring additional preparation.
